CAF exco member and FDF president Souleiman Hassan Waberi receives the wet flowers and the country's flag upon arrival on Monday
Djiboutian football club authorities, football players and hundreds of football fans, have received Djiboutian FA boss upon arrival at Ambouli international airport in the capital on Monday, as he returned from Addis Ababa where he won CAF executive committee seat during Africa football's ruling body election last week.

The president, whose plane touched down around 11am, was greeted by well wishers as he received wet flowers and the national flag of Djibouti in the airport’s VIP room before coming out to address hundreds of football fans who were waiting for his arrival outside the airport since dawn morning on Monday.

The president was then escorted to the headquarters of Djiboutian Football Federation in the heart of the city where he addressed his executive committee, football stakeholders and the country’s elite national team members before talking to members of the media who were invited to a press conference at FDF headquarters.

"African football has entered into a new era. The recent election of CAF president Ahmed Ahmed and his committee was a milestone for African football. CAF is now working on a new strategy for African football development” the president told the media during his first news conference at home after winning CAF election last week.

"The election has marked a meaningful era for Africa” president Souleiman Hassan Waberi told the media on Monday. Mr. Waberi became Djibouti’s first man to become CAF executive committee member in the country’s football history.

In January this year, Mr. Waberi was appointed on FIFA competitions committee. He became one of the very few Africans who appeared on FIFA sub committees this year.
