Re-elected Djiboutian FA president Souleiman Hassan Waberi pictured in his office
The president of Djiboutian Football Federation [FDF], Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi has been re-elected for another four year-term in office during the election congress held at the National Technical Centre here in the capital Djibouti on Sunday 11th December.


All stakeholders voted in favor of the president who won the election unopposed as the stakeholders previously came to decision not to put forward the candidacy of another contender, according to the president of defending champions, Djibouti Telecom Football Club, Djabir Mohamed Duale.


"Today’s unanimous vote for President Souleiman Hassan waberi shows that we the [stakeholders] are fully committed to the game. We re-elected him because of the major approaches our football made under his leadership for the past four years and why we did so is to get him drive the boat from there” Mr. Duale told the media at the end of the election congress on Sunday. "This was the most fantastic football election we have ever witnessed in our football history” he said.



In his post election address, the president thanked the stakeholders for unanimously voting him to continue leadership of the country’s football. He said that at the end of his new term, he will not stand for presidency for a 3rd term if the country’s national team didn’t earn good results from international competitions to get the country go up in FIFA ranking in the next four years. "I want make a commitment that at the end of my term I will not represent myself as a candidate if I do not bring back tangible results from both regional and continental levels” the president noted.


"Today I am very happy not only because you re-elected me, but because of your strong support and determination to develop football in our country. I and my committee can’t do anything without you [stakeholders]. We succeeded 98% of the development programs I pledged in front of you four years ago. Once again I count on you and I want you to work harder than you have been working with us in the past and suerly we can reach a higher level in football” President Souleiman Hassan Waberi said in his post election address.

The president commended the minister for youth and sport, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Kamil for his long-standing contribution to football in the country. "I take this opportunity to pay my tribute to the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport HE Mr. Hassan Mohamed Kamil, a great friend and a patriotic man who served our football for decades as a player, Coach, Technical Director and general secretary of the FDF. I pay tribute to him for all the sacrifices he made to the Djiboutian football and youth” the president noted.

"On behalf of Djiboutian football family, I am very grateful to the President of the Republic His Excellency Ismael Omar Guelleh for his constant commitment to youth and sport and football in particular” Mr. Waberi said.

Finally President Souleiman Hassan Waberi, thanked FIFA and CAF for their constant support to Djiboutian football adding that without their assistance his country’s football wouldn’t be there today. The congress also approved annual financial statement for the year 2015 and as well as the 2017 budget.


Meanwhile, the president has received a cordial welcome and appreciation from the minister for youth and sport, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Kamil, who visited him at the FDF headquarters hours after the president was re-elected on Sunday evening.  "Congratulations for your re-election. I came to you here in your office to show my determination to football. I promise to you that we are with you and your new executive committee” the minister told the re-elected president of Djiboutian football federation during their brief meeting at the FDF headquarters.

 

The presidnet of Somali Football Federation and vice president of CECAFA, Abdiqani Said Arab, has congratulated president Souleiman Hassan Waberi on his re-election during a telephone converation on Sunday evening.


"I congratulate you on your re-election as president of FDF. I am hopeful that your experience and commitmet will be able to take Djiboutain football to a greater development” Mr. Arab said to his long-time friend in football during their telephone conversation, becoming the first FA president to ring Mr, Waberi hours after his re-election.
