"Since they confirmed their league title at the end of the season, Heegan have been engaged in daily training sessions at Stadium Banadir in preparations for the upcoming CECAFA Club tournament” SFF Media and communications manager, noted in his statement adding that the team’s training sessions will end on Sunday.

"We facilitated everything for the team to ensure their participation of the competition, because Somalia had never missed a single CECAFA competition and we want to keep that record alive” SFF Media and communications manager, Shafi’i Mohyaddin Abokar, emphasized in his press statement.

Founded in 1950, Heegan won their first Somali Football league title in 1954 before they disappeared. But the old club was revived on 28th of May 2009 and they lifted their second league title in history six years after their revival.

Several foreign professionals are part of the team. Former AFC Leopards and Sofapaka FC defender, Harry Gentle Frank (Nigeria) is one of them.
