Djibouti gains FIFA praise for refereeing development

The world Football's governing body FIFA has praised Djibouti Football Federation for doing a better job to develop its refereeing sector.


The announcement was made by FIFA refereeing development officer, Mr. Sidi Magassa, during his address at the launch of FIFA refereeing course for Djiboutian elite football referees.


"FIFA appreciates the fantastic work that Djiboutian Football Federation is doing to develop the quality of its referees---Djibouti is a smaller country, but they are doing more work than some larger countries and FIFA knows about that” the FIFA official told the opening ceremony here in Djibouti on Friday.



Mr. Sidi Magassa, said he was happy with the performance of Djiboutian international referee Hassan Egue at the recent Orange African Cup of Nations.The president of Djibouti Football Federation, Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi, who addressed at the opening ceremony thanked FIFA for its continued support to the country’s FA to help them realize their development goals.


"With the help from FIFA we organize such a refereeing course in the country every year and that is part of our development programs” the president said.He noted that several months ago his federation created a refereeing department which has so far done a lot of work to develop the country’s referees.


"The young talent program is one of several development approaches we have made recently as part of FIFA/CAF policy to develop the quality and quantity of referees in member associations” president Souleiman Hassan Waberi told during his address.


Some 26 top level referees are attending at the 5-day training course which will last until 31stof March. The course is being conducted by FIFA technical instructor, Lim kee helped by fitness instructor,Mohamed Houssein, while three local instructors will be working alongside FIFA instructors.
