CECAFA saddened by the death and injuries of young Somali footballers

The council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has shown solidarity with Somalia after an old landmine blast has killed a child and wounded two others while the children were playing football in an open ground in the town of Balanbale near the border with Ethiopia.


To share the sadness with Somalia, hours after the shocking incident, CECAFA secretary General Nicholas Musonye has written to Somali Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab to deliver the regional Africa football body’s condolence to the football growing nation of Somalia.

"I have learned about the sad news of the death of a young player and the injuries of two others at a football field in Somalia. I stand with you and the family of the dead young boy during this sad moment” CECAFA Secretary General Mr. Nicholas Musonye said in his condolence letter to Somali FA secretary General on Monday evening.



Mr. Musonye said that CECAFA continues as always to see a stabled Somalia one day where football will grow and change the lives of many young Somali players eager to stamp their authority on the international arena.

"We are confident that the injured players will recover and the bereaved family to be strong during this sad moment” CECAFA secretary General Mr Nicholas Musonye continued in his condolence letter.
