Quartier 3 FC wins Djibouti women's football league

For the second year running Djibouti women have enjoyed football competitions after the revival of the country's female soccer championship last year marking the end of women's league absence for nearly a decade.


Quartier 3 FC have confirmed their female league title of the year, after humiliating Magasin le Bonheur girls by 3-0 on Friday. The match was played at the National technical centre in front of a big audience including FDF officials and government representatives.

National director for the ministry of youth and sport Mr Houssein kahyeh who addressed at the closing ceremony of the female league said that his government was happy with the revival of women’s football leagues in the country, adding that the government was committed to encouraging the right move forward.



Former National team goalkeeper and women’s football committee deputy chairwoman Kadan Ali Hassan added that there were high hopes that the country’s women’s national football team will soon be available for international competitions, praising the FDF president for the constructive idea of the revival of women’s involvement.

The FDF president Souleiman Hassan Waberi for his part said that he believed that women were major human resources for the promotion of football in his country and for that reason his federation was prioritising the development of women’s football in the country.

"Our technical experts have shortlisted dozens of players from the tournament and we have drawn a special training program for them in a bid to hunt the last selection of the country’s national team” the FDF president Souleiman Hassan Waberi told the closing ceremony on Friday evening.
