Top level official from FIFA refereeing development office has on Friday arrived in Somalia where he will be conducting high profile international refereeing course for the country's elite soccer referees.

Mr. Ahmed El Shenawi was received at Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International airport by Somali Football Federation senior vice president Ali Abdi Mohamed SFF head of logistics Abukar Islow Hassan and sports medicine doctor Abdi Ibrahim Ahmed.

El Shenawi will be leading the FIFA MA refereeing course for Somalia which is slated in Mogadishu for 20-24 April 2014. This is the first time for El Shenawi to come to Somalia, but he had so far lead international courses for Somalia organized in the neighbouring country of Djibouti.

"I am very happy to arrive in Somalia and conduct such international level course for the country” FIFA refereeing development officer Ahmed El Shenawi said upon arrival at the airport on Friday.

Meanwhile, FIFA fitness instructor Boubakar Hanashi who was due in Mogadishu on Friday hasn’t yet arrived and Somali Football Federation officials said they were not aware of what went wrong with him.

"The two FIFA officials were coming from different countries, so still we do not know what delayed Mr. Hanashi, it can be flight delays, but we are currently establishing contacts with FIFA to exactly find out what happened” Somali Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani Said Arab noted.

Mr Arab said that Somali fitness instructor and former international referee Abdi Abdulle Ahmed (Baasaale) who was due to assist the FIFA instructors will be doing the fitness lessons instead of Boubakar Hanashi, but said they were hopeful that Mr Hanashi will arrive if he didn’t encounter unexpected problems.
