The president of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, has commended the country's U-17 football squad for showing a fantastic exhibition at the 2018 CECAFA Under 17 Championship in Burundi.
"I congratulate the Somali Football Federation and its coaches for making sure to produce a strong national squad that has been able to storm into the final stage” Somalia’s president Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed said in his message.
The president was watching the match live from his
presidential compound, the Villa Somalia in Mogadishu. Tanzania defeated the
blue flag carries 2-0 in Sunday’s final match. In his post-match reaction, the
president of the nation said "the boys did a very professional exhibition,
represented the nation well and uplifted the dignity of the blue flag”.
"You are strong boys and we are very proud of you. Insha
Allah you will receive a high profile national welcome upon your arrival” the
president said directing his message to the Ocean Stars youngsters who made a
history after they led Somalia to the final of a CECAFA tournament for the
first time in the country’s history.
